0244676.jpgThe Background

Northside Partnership's Regional Education Network was established in 2005, with the express aim of encouraging and enabling all education providers within our catchment area to work together to identify:

  • Emerging Educational Needs within our area
  • Practical Solutions to Meet these Needs

After initial consultation with a focus group of education providers, the Network was formed, inviting all 81 primary, secondary and 3rd level education providers in our area to join.

The Vision

"...High quality, high value learning environments through effective partnerships of education providers and other stakeholders in the community..."

The Structure

An Executive Steering Committee, comprising of representatives from primary, second level, second-chance and third level, oversees the work of the Network.  The wider Network meets on a bi-annual basis, allowing time for presentations on work to date, new initiatives coming soon and an opportunity for local education providers to network and discuss issues of common concern.

Initiatives the Regional Education Network have developed include:

  • A Masters in Education programme for local school teachers developed in conjunction with the NUI Maynooth. 19 local teachers who completed the 2 year programme were conferred in September 2011.  We are currently recruiting for the next Masters in Education programme which will commence in September 2012.
  • The Story Time Reading Initiative developed in conjunction with the Marino Institute of Education. To date over 310 children and parents have participated.
  • IT project which provided IT audits to participating schools and helped identify activities that will ensure better value for money in terms of IT maintenance contracts.
  • Organisation of the Education for All Fair where over 30 education institutes provide a One Stop Shop for information for 4th and 5th year studuents attending local schools. 810 students and adult learners attended the last Education For All Fair held on 29th November 2011.   It is planned to hold additional 'pop up' Education Fairs' in various locations through the community during the first quarter of 2012 .
