0240885.jpgThe Background

Over the last number of years, Health has become an important issue within our communities and therefore has increasingly become an important issue for Northside Partnership.  In 2006 we made formal links with the HSE's Health Promotion Unit and after initial discussions it was decided to launch the Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) Programme.

The Programme

Health Food Made Easy is a peer-led 6-week programme that is run within the Northside Partnership area.  The aim of the programme is to improve the nutrition knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of people within our area.

For each group that decides to participate in the HFME programme, they learn about basic nutrition theories and also take part in a practical cookery element.  The emphasis throughout the programme is on group learning rather than formal learning and all courses are facilitated by peer mentors, enrolled from our local communities and trained to deliver the HFME programme.
