Research & Information Dissemination PDF Print E-mail

The objective of this action is to enhance the Partnership's capacity to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally and to identify areas of research, action and policy development that would be beneficial to the delivery of the Partnership's 6 year strategic plan.

Mapping the Community

The objective of this action is to identify the potential of skills, expertise and assets within the area that can be mobilised and knitted into a community network. It also is intended to improve the allocation of resources through better planning and targeting. In this context it is intended to design practicable tools, strategies and actions required to master challenges, to give direction and to address a variety of local and wider social, economic and political developments affecting the area.

NorDubCo Community Development Network

The network is a result of a collaborative effort between the North Dublin Development Coalition (NorDubCo) and Partnerships on Dublin's Northside in 2007. The objectives of the regional network is to facilitate information sharing, learning and support among community development teams. Some aspects addressed by the network are Asset-Based Community Development, Rights-Based Approach to Community Development and the idea of establishing Citizen Juries.

Statistical Information & Training

 Almost every organisation needs statistics on their catchment area at some stage during the year. Often statistical information is required to inform funding applications, business plans, policy development and/or advocacy. The statistics from the Census 2006 are the most recent statistics available and they can be accessed online. However, the census website is not very user-friendly and it is sometimes hard to find the information required. Therefore we have developed a user guide which will hopefully allow you to find all the relevant statistics on www.census.ie. We also offer a practical training session on how to use the census website. If you would like to receive more information please contact us on 01/848 56 30.

Northside Partnership Area Profiles

Following the second extension of its catchment area, as a result of the Cohesion Process in 2009, the Northside Partnership now operates in area with a population of about 125,000 people. To facilitate the development of a strategy, we subdivided the Partnership catchment area into 7 districts that have:

  • A similar urban character;
  • Clear physical boundaries that are in line with Electoral Districts (EDs). (EDs are areas with a population of about 3,000-7,000 for which data gathered by the Central Statistics Office is available);
  • A similar socio-economic profile;
  • An appropriate geographic area that allows for an area-based approach to local development and that ensures that people can relate to the area.

It is intended to provide a profile of each district that consist of qualitative (descriptive) and quantitative (statistics) information. The pdf-files, which can be downloaded here or obtained by emailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , provide information on each area. Each file includes certain categories and variables that are considered useful in obtaining desired spatial information that can help us to:

  • Better understand spatial developments/issues
  • Consult and engage with local groups and actors
  • Plan for our operational area

The pdf-files for each of the 7 districts contain information on the area’s neighbourhoods, the social infrastructure (Part 1) and statistical data such as educational attainment, social class, housing, transport (Part 2).

We also provide a summary document comparing the entire catchment area here: pdf Statistical Summary 221.94 Kb

Please note that, currently, only the statistical data (Part 2) is available on this website.

If you have any queries concerning the data, please do not hesitate to contact us:
