810 STUDENTS AND ADULT LEARNERS ATTEND NORTHSIDE PARTNERSHIP REGIONAL EDUCATION NETWORK ANNUAL ‘EDUCATION FOR ALL FAIR’ Councillor Paddy Bourke officially opened the Northside Partnership Regional Education Network annual ‘Education for All Fair’ which is was held in the Donnycarney Youth Centre, Donnycarney, Dublin 5. The main aim of the Fair is to promote learning as a possibility and an opportunity for everyone from cradle to grave. 810 students and adult learners attended the Education for All Fair drawn from schools in areas such as Coolock, Killester, Donaghmede and Darndale. This is the 4th ‘Education for All Fair’ and to date over 4,000 young people and adults have attended. Chairperson of Northside Partnership, Willie Hamilton, said “Education fairs of this kind are of vital importance at this point in time. As we are all too aware, our country is currently going through a very difficult period and opportunities for employment are not as plentiful as they once were. Education therefore becomes increasingly important as it offers people the chance to up-skill, re-train or change careers in the hope that when they emerge from their period of study they will be well placed to take advantage of the up-swing in the economy that we know will come in the future.” Over 30 different education providers displayed at the fair and provided a ‘One Stop Shop’ for information on what education opportunities are available and offered guidance and advice on what courses or learning programme suits you to get where you want to be in life. Exhibitors included; All Hallows College, Defence Forces-Air Corps, Dublin City University, FAS, Northside Partnership Local Employment Service, National College of Art and Design and Trinity College. A programme of workshops were also run throughout the day which highlighted the wide variety of learning experiences that are on offer. Workshop topics included; Careers in Social Services, Careers in Computer Science, and Careers in Nursing. For further information please contact Paul Hayes, Northside Partnership at
