STORY TIME READING INITIATIVE PDF Print E-mail
310 parents and children participate on the innovative Story Time Reading Initiative

The Story Time Reading Project is a joint collaboration between the Marino Institute of Education and the Northside Partnership Regional Education Network.

The project is co-ordinated by Northside Partnership who is responsible for encouraging school participation and liaising with the Marino Institute of Education. The project is theoretically grounded in research carried out by the Principal of St Francis JNS Priorswood, Ms Emer Kelleher. The aims of the project are:
  1. To encourage parents to read on a regular basis with their children
  2. To encourage the use of’decontextualised’ language with children
  3. To increase children's vocabulary, conversation and cognitive skills.
The project targets children who are in pre-school and junior infants. Key to the successful targeting and participation of parents and children is the support of Junior Home School Liaison Teachers and pre-school providers. Current participating schools and pre-school providers include:

  • St Mary's NS
  • St Monica's JNS
  • St Malachy's BNS
