The School Completion Programmes work with a target group of students, who may be experiencing difficulties in school and who may be at risk of early school leaving. Through various initiatives during school time, after school and during school holidays, they attempt to support the student and enable them to enjoy their school experiences. In conjunction with the Dublin 17 School Completion Programme, the Northside Partnership established the Breakfast Clubs in 1998, for schools in the Dublin 17 area. In 2004 the Breakfast Clubs were expanded to include lunches and were extended to pupils in 8 local schools. This service now provides healthy and nutritious breakfasts and lunches for over 2,000 students every school day. This highly imaginative use of public funds meets the needs of children’s nutrition and has seen attendances and behaviour improve greatly in the classrooms. Contact Details:

The School Completion Programmes are a Department of Education and Science initiative, which aim to keep students in education for longer. The Northside Partnership works closely with the SCPs that operate within its catchment area.
