Dealing with Grief and Loss in the Classroom

Anne Staunton, a primary teacher, is national director of Rainbows Ireland and also represents the Irish Childhood Bereavement Network – a hub for professionals working to support those working with bereaved children. In this workshop, teachers will be supported with practical advice for dealing with grief in the classroom. Topics will address: how children grieve, factors that influence children’s grief, how grief can present itself in school, and the role and responsibility of a teacher. The workshop includes the animation, “Listen with eyes, ears and heart.”
