We were delighted to throw open the garden gates at Northside Partnership’s Coolock head office during Dublin Climate Action Week and Local Development Week, where our Tús Horticulture team – in partnership with the brilliant crew from Sphere 17 – hosted a heartwarming Open Garden event full of nature, neighbours, and no shortage of sunshine!
Visitors from near and far came to stroll through our flourishing garden and learn all about the local climate action efforts under way right here on Dublin’s Northside, funded by Dublin City Council Community Climate Action Fund. From food to transport to biodiversity, our community is rolling up its sleeves and getting stuck in to do our bit in tackling climate change.
Ireland has committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030. A big challenge, no doubt – but it’s one we’re ready to meet with action, ambition, and a healthy dose of Northside spirit.
Greener Journeys: To cut down on transport emissions, Sphere 17 has installed brand new bike lockers at two of their centres. Our Bonnybrook locker even boasts a living roof, helping pollinators and biodiversity thrive while keeping bikes safe and sound.
From Plot to Plate: We’ve set up a shiny new polytunnel, helping us grow our own fruit and veg right on site. It’s all about learning how our food choices affect the climate – and reducing food waste and food miles while we’re at it.
Water Wise: The polytunnel’s irrigation will soon be powered by our brand new rainwater harvesting system, showing how we can conserve water and build resilience for the changing climate.
Planting for the Future: Together with Sphere 17, we’ve planted a mini orchard in our EcoPocket garden – a beautiful space that now promises fresh local fruit and a haven for wildlife. And in Priorswood, a native hedgerow is being added to boost local biodiversity even more.
With the garden in full bloom, guests soaked up the sunshine, enjoyed tasty refreshments, and were serenaded by the fabulous Sharyn Ward, a local artist who brought the perfect soundtrack to the day.
We’re proud of the work we’re doing with our community to respond to the global climate and biodiversity crises. It’s not just about big targets – it’s about everyday actions, local projects, and people coming together to make a difference.

Let’s keep growing change – together.
