Minister Humphreys announces details of new €15 million Community Centre Fund
  • Grants of between €10,000 and €300,000 available for upgrade and refurbishment works to Community Centres

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has today announced a new €15 million capital fund to support community groups for the upgrade and refurbishment of Community Centres.  This is an investment in both rural and urban communities across the Country.

The Community Centres Investment Fund will support community groups with the upgrade and development of their Community Centre facilities.

Building Leadership in the Community

Today (25 January 2022) Joe O’Brien TD, Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development attended the induction day of Northside Partnership’s Place-based Leadership Development Programme in Darndale. The Programme is an investment in local leaders to help them address the challenges experienced in the area.

Place Based Leadership Development is a pilot programme launching in Darndale and Drogheda. 24 participants will undertake the programme in both areas.

PATHWAYS TO WORK STRATEGY THREATENS THE FUTURE OF NORTH DUBLIN LOCAL EMPLOYMENT CENTRE

Northside Partnership Local Development Company has warned that their Local Employment Services and Job Clubs which have served the community for over 25 years are fighting for survival due to new proposals in the Pathways to Work Strategy to require all Local Employment Services compete in an open tenders with private providers.

Paul Rogers of  Northside Partnership questioned the Government’s proposal to replace the comprehensive and integrated services for jobseekers currently delivered by the LES and Job Clubs with a new Regional Service.

Following a rise in crime and drug-related activity in north east Dublin, local community groups have come together to launch a new initiative called Get The Message Out – There Is Another Way.

The aim of the initiative is to inform young people and their families that there are alternatives to drugs and crime and that supports are available to them to avoid or exit this lifestyle.
